Chapter 148 SUBDIVISION AND LAND DEVELOPMENT. (updated 7-28-08)
Section 148-47 STREET TREES.
A. All
subdivisions and developments shall provide
for the planting of trees on both sides of new streets and along
existing
streets where trees have been destroyed in the development process.
B. Standards.
1. Trees
shall be planted in
accordance with a submitted landscape plan approved by the town.
Existing
trees, undisturbed by the construction process, may be incorporated and
credited as part of the landscape plan. The trees may either be
massed,
spaced evenly, or both, along the street. The even spacing of trees
shall be in
accordance with the following guidelines:

2. The
number of massed trees shall
not be less than the number calculated for the street under the even
spacing
guidelines.
C. Tree
plantings shall not interfere with utilities,
roadways, sidewalks, sight distance or streetlights. Tree location,
species and
spacing shall be approved by the town as part of the landscape plan.
D. All
street trees shall have a minimum caliper of
two (2) inches in diameter and shall be nursery grown. All tree
plantings
shall be in accordance with the adopted Landscape Preservation and
Planting
Guide for the Town of Front Royal.
